As of January 28, 2025, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has not released any official updates regarding revisions to the UGC NET English syllabus for the June 2025 examination. The most recent examination was conducted on January 7, 2025, following the existing syllabus.

The UGC NET English exam comprises two papers:

Paper 1: General Paper on Teaching and Research Aptitude  
This paper assesses candidates' teaching and research capabilities, covering topics such as:  
- Teaching Aptitude  
- Research Aptitude  
- Reading Comprehension  
- Communication  
- Reasoning (including Mathematical)  
- Logical Reasoning  
- Data Interpretation  
- Information and Communication Technology (ICT)  
- People and Environment  
- Higher Education System: Governance, Polity, and Administration  

This paper consists of 50 multiple-choice questions, each carrying 2 marks, totaling 100 marks. The duration is 1 hour.

Paper 2: English  
This paper focuses on English literature and language, encompassing topics such as:  
- Drama  
- Poetry  
- Fiction and Short Stories  
- Non-Fictional Prose  
- Language: Basic Concepts, Theories, and Pedagogy  
- English in India: History, Evolution, and Futures  
- Cultural Studies  
- Literary Criticism  
- Literary Theory Post World War II  
- Research Methods and Materials in English  

This paper comprises 100 multiple-choice questions, each carrying 2 marks, totaling 200 marks. The duration is 2 hours.

The total duration for both papers is 3 hours, and they are conducted in a single session. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
